The Danger of the Middle Life: Why Personal Development is not a Choice, but Survival.

Have you ever felt that your life is stagnant? That the days pass in an infinite cycle of waking up, working and paying bills, while success seems to be something that only happens to others?

Many people believe that the lack of opportunity, the country's economy or social inequality are the only ones responsible for where they are today. But if we look closely, these justifications often serve as a crutchesThey camouflage our responsibility and blame the failure on third parties.

To change the course of your story, the first step is to understand an uncomfortable truth: or you grow up, or the world's running over you.

The Trap of Mediocrity

When we talk about "being mediocre", many lead to the pejorative side. However, the real definition is purely technical: The average is the average. Not good, not bad, just medium.

The problem is that living in the average today is a very high risk. We are in an era where medium people have no more space. If you do not seek to stand out, you end up becoming invisible. Keeping a repressed "life" just working to survive and waiting for the weekend to arrive, is the fastest way to chronic dissatisfaction.

The Lesson of the Ancients: Stoicism and Self-Knowledge

The desire for self-improvement is not a passing fashion of the Instagram. More than 2,000 years ago, in Ancient Greece, the Stoicism I already treated self-knowledge as the pillar of a life of virtues.

The Stoics taught us that we cannot control what happens outside (the economy, the market, the opinion of others), but we have total control over how we react and how we evolve. Today, this development is no longer a differential to become mandatory for those who want to excel.

The Labour Market vs. Personal Relations

Look around you: the world is becoming more competitive. The market offers less opportunities for those who only have the "basic". Diplomas and technical courses are important, but those who really stand out are the more emotionally developed.

In parallel, we see a desert in human relations:
  • People are becoming more shy and insecure.

  • Men afraid to express their masculinity and interact.

  • Women repressed by fear of judgment about their independence.

Personal development works right there: it gives you the tools to dialogue in public, express who you are and act with confidence.

Conclusion: Will you turn the page or wait for luck?

Developing requires discipline. It requires leaving the comfort zone. Imagine yourself in a mud sea: if you stand still, your body gets used to the temperature and smell. But, to get out of there, you will have to move, and the first impact will be cold and uncomfortable.

The question that remains for you is: Do you want to be part of the community that is turning the page to become your best version? Or will you continue to root to win the lottery and change your life for a miracle?

Let me give you some bad news: the miracle won't happen if you don't move.
